Warrnambool Community Garden Master Plan
In realising the vision to rehabilitate a quarry as a performance space, preparing a master plan was a key step.
We assisted the WCG Committee through a collaborative design process that has allowed the stakeholders to steer the direction of the project towards a holistic solution. Subsequent development of the design included an Implementation Plan that provided the Committee with a clear set of steps forward in what is a complex and long-term project.
The Quarry Performance Space has been recognised with awards at local, state and national levels.
“We chose Perry from a field of candidates who expressed interest. He proved to be just exactly the right person for us and we loved the process he took us through“ Julie Eagles, WCG Deputy Convenor.
Teesdale Activity Trail
Golden Plains Shire commissioned PM&A to design an activity trail - the Trail of the Turtle - to encourage kids to walk to school.
Following ideas generated during some fun consultation sessions with kids from the nearby Teesdale Primary School, we designed a space with multiple intertwining pathways so there is a different experience every day of the week. The project features a tree tunnel, turtle play sculpture, linear activity trail, sheoak woodland, and furniture and future shelter constructed of recycled timber pallets.
The concept plans for the trail have been hailed by health promotion charity Victoria Walks as an innovative solution, one that dovetails with their Smart Steps program.
Smythesdale Botanic Gardens Reserve Master Plan
Smythesdale Botanic Gardens, established in the 1860’s, reflect the changing focus of botanical gardens from horticulture to recreational use.
The Golden Plains Shire facilitated this project, supporting the Smythesdale Progress Association in resolving how to plot a future for the historic former Botanic Gardens Reserve. The Progress Association saw an opportunity to increase visitors to town by promoting the reserve as an overnight stopover for caravans and campers.
Our role was to help the community identify issues and opportunities and then agree on priority actions and a plan for improving and managing the Reserve.
Lookout Reserve Master Plan, Ocean Grove
Through a thorough site analysis and concept design approach, the Ocean Grove Rotary Club was able to secure funding to upgrade a much-loved community asset.
We identified key issues and opportunities and resolved this into a Concept Master Plan. This process facilitated a two-way discussion with Council and engagement over a variety of issues.
We then prepared a priority list of actions that could be undertaken in the short term, and those that required further design, approvals or funding.
Clarke-Grantleigh Reserve, Darley
In recent decades Darley has become a major suburban area of Bacchus Marsh, requiring ongoing development of open space assets to provide enhanced recreational opportunities.
Moorabool Shire has identified this reserve as a target for investment in upgraded public amenity and we were asked to prepare a Landscape Master Plan to take to the community for discussion.
Following consultation we undertook design development and prepared detailed construction documentation and specifications.
The project has been funded and is currently scheduled for implementation in during FY2023-24.
