This Day Care Centre provides services to groups including families with children experiencing Autism Spectrum Disorder.
The existing outdoor areas were upgraded to include play opportunities for developing proprioceptive, tactile and spatial awareness using Sequential Outdoor Learning (SOL) design ideas.
The design provides a therapeutic play environment in an increasingly complex sequence allowing the individual to manage the degree and type of sensory stimulation.
This included a bamboo dome, ropes curtain, steppers through tufting grasses, a trike circuit, new sand play area and catenery shade structure.
The existing play space at this kindergarten provided was aged, and the committee's vision was to include a greater range of play opportunities.
The Concept Plan included new ideas for loose materials play, a range of natural materials, plants and group play spaces.
Stage 1 of implementation has been the renovated sandpit with hand water pump and water play path
