Shelter & Toilets
Whites Beach Playground, Torquay
Open space Infrastructure
Inspired by the way vegetation along the coast is shaped and sculpted by the prevailing winds, this shelter and toilet lean away from the wind direction, just like the wind-blown bushes onsite.
The infrastructure complements the existing very popular playground, and provide refuge from the sun as well as the wind.
The design catches the north sun in winter, and uses a stone wall and the sloping roof shape to deflect winds, creating a cosy place to picnic or watch the kids playing.
